Author of The Wellnessmap – your roadmap to wellness,
Founder of Wellnessmap.org,
Chiropractor,
And loving husband.
(From The Wellnessmap Book)
"Dr George was born in 1983 in Darwin, Australia. Growing up, he enjoyed mathematics, sport and anything adventurous, such as dragnet fishing with his grandfather.
At the age of 10, George’s family moved to Melbourne, where he developed a love for photography, science and martial arts.
After Year 12, he directed his attention towards the healing arts of Chiropractic. By the time he had completed his Chiropractic studies at the age of 23, George was a black belt martial arts teacher, had: started a tutoring business called Aspire Excellence; co-authored a book for high school students called Pearls of Wisdom; held three photographic exhibitions; worked as a wedding and model photographer; been a picture double on the set of a Hollywood movie; and helped his father run a busy fresh fish shop!
Most recently, George has focused his attentions on helping to unite the health professions and give patients a tool to monitor their progress to wellness and discover new ways to achieving greater health, through The Wellnessmap book and website. George and the Wellnessmap community aim to change the focus of health care from sickness to wellness, and to improve the health of millions worldwide."
(Below is a letter to Dr George from his High School English tutor.)
"Dear George,
Imagine my surprise and delight today when, browsing in the Self Help section of Volumes, I came across a book by a character named Dr George Fragopolous. George Fragopolous, I thought. Could there be two people with that name? I quickly read the bio and realized – yes, it was the George that I knew.
My thoughts went back 10 years or so – to the young boy from Whitefriars College; his mum had approached me to ask if I would tutor her son. She was concerned that his grades in English were poor – he was getting Ds for the most part, and occasional Cs.
My recollection from that early time – you would have been no more than 14 or 15 – was of a quiet, well mannered boy who lacked confidence in his writing. I remember thinking … boy, it’s going to take a lot of work to get this boy to a stage where he can get a C at VCE.
I recall too what a committed student you were – how you persisted when others would have given up; how you completed the tasks I set; how you grew in your ability to articulate what you needed, and what gave you problems; how, over the four years we worked together, you went from Ds and Cs to Bs and Cs, and finally to As. I remember the joy I felt when your Year 12 VCE results were so good.
I must say to you that I take great pride in my part in helping you achieve what you have achieved thus far. When I met you, I thought you were a good hearted, well mannered boy with serious difficulties in basic literacy. But as time passed, you impressed me with your determination to achieve, and by your willingness to do the things I asked of you to the best of your ability. And there’s the problem. We always think in terms of ability, as if ability were a fixed thing, cold and flat and impervious as a rock. What you have demonstrated is that ability is elastic, it stretches, we stretch it. It’s not a ceiling. If we think of ability as a ceiling – it becomes the upper limit of what we can achieve.
If instead we think of the mind and the body and the soul and the heart and consciousness as ever changing, ever growing and expanding, and as ever capable of achieving new heights, then anything becomes possible.
Congratulations on your achievements thus far. Good luck with your book. I will read it with great interest. I hope the book goes well for you, and that the whole venture – Wellnessmap – proves successful.
Regards,
Barry Carozzi"
